Photojournalist Sergei Gapon is from the historic town of Kreva in Belarus.
He is currently based in Poland after living two years in Hillerød as an ICORN artist. Since 2012, Sergei Gapon has been a photographer for Agence France-Presse (AFP). His professional journey has taken him across the countries of the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine and Russia, as well as the Nordic countries. Through his lens, Sergei has captured compelling stories and documented significant events in these regions.
His exhibition Melting Horizons: A Journey through Changing Scandinavia, which is on display at Copenhagen City Hall from 24 May to 1 June, is a captivating visual testimony to the fragility of our environment and invites reflection on our role in shaping a more sustainable future.
The exhibition is not only a visual documentation but an attempt to observe how people adapt to a changing world under the influence of the climate. Through a combination of journalistic perspective and artistic sensibility, Sergei appeals to the viewer to consider the global consequences of one's daily actions.
