Join Biba Fibiger and Veronica Rigét for a guided tour of this exhibition where light is the central point of departure – both as a physical phenomenon and as an artistic material. The tour will move through a visual and thought-provoking exploration of light, interpreted by eight artists drawing inspiration from the world of science.
Afterglow: Conversations on Light invites visitors into a space between the factual and the experiential. Here, artworks create visual connections between scientific insight and artistic expression, inspired by research and reflections from leading scientists such as Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin, and Vera Rubin.
Each artist uses a specific scientific voice and phenomena as their starting point, translating them into their own distinct visual language. Along the way, you will encounter artworks across a range of media – from glass and photography to video and installation – all exploring the many ways light shapes our understanding of the world.
This is not an exhibition that seeks to explain science. Rather, it explores light as something we can both comprehend and sense. The subtitle, Conversations on Light, reflects this meeting between two modes of understanding: the scientific and the artistic.
