Come and experience processes and artworks created by kindergarten children from Nørrebro and visual artist Amanda Luna, when the artist in residence project RAÍCES celebrates its mid-term exhibition opening.
All children are welcome and can contribute to the exhibition's works through involving art activities with clay, sand, dried roots, and paint. The participants of the artist in residence project will be present and inform about the positive effects of long-term, established partnerships on children's everyday life, well-being and communities.
About RAÍCES
Through a one-year long artist in residence project, children from the art daycare institutions Brolopperne and Tusindfryd are participating in artistic collaborative processes and investigations that revolve around various aspects and perceptions of identity, ethnicity and belonging. The workshops are based on the children's and the artist's roots from different nationalities and cultures, but also their common roots from everyday life in Nørrebro. The art project creates a space for a more positive, curious and peaceful relationship with the complexity that can be present when people come from and belong to more than one place. The investigations take place through involving art processes, where rituals and ceremonial performances are carried out, and collaborative artworks and site-specific installations are created.
RAÍCES is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation and Copenhagen Municipality's Children and Youth Administration and runs until the end of 2024.
