Udstillingsstedet Sydhavn Station was founded in 2012 and is run voluntarily by 11 members who are practising artists.
Its special location at an S-train station has created an artistic meeting place in the middle of a well-visited public space.
The Sydhavn Station exhibition space caters to a wide range of Copenhageners, travellers, tourists and locals. It creates contact with many different age groups and walks of life who encounter contemporary art in the public space in an informal way.
All exhibitions are curated by Sydhavn Station members, who take turns being responsible for the exhibitions and running the exhibition centre. Support from foundations and grants for the production of exhibitions is essential for the survival of the exhibition centre. All monthly costs for operation, rent etc. are covered by the members of Sydhavn Station.
Udstillingedet Sydhavn Station has a platform within the station in DSB's old ticket office, as well as a poster frieze in the stations lobby and a billboard by the entrance of the trainstation.
