Is it the taste of something special from our childhood that makes us nostalgic? Is it the things we surround ourselves with that provide direct access to our memories? Or is it the stories we were told as children before we went to sleep? Is nostalgia only good? Is it also creepy? Does it make us remember things differently than they were? Can we trust our memories?
All of this is explored and examined when professional artists transform Sophienholm Kunsthal into a laboratory for nostalgia. Every Thursday in May and the first two Thursdays in June, the Kunsthal is transformed into a space for experiments, where artists explore the theme of nostalgia and invite the audience to join in.
During the period, you can experience - among other things - a family-based pickle tradition from the global south, research-based investigation of biographical and place-specific memory, tastes, smells, songs and an investigation of what imprints we leave on materials and the world around us. Together we look at the possibilities or limitations of nostalgia. Dreaming, remembering, grieving and longing. Come and experiment with us at Sophienholm Kunsthal, Thursdays from 4-8 pm
